Bicester Heritage certainly has its reputation firmly fixed within the world of classic motoring, the UK’s only hub dedicated to historic automotive excellence it has over 30 specialists business’ and employs over 34,000 skilled workers.
Bicester Heritage doesn’t keep this all to itself that’s for sure. The centre also hosts several events throughout the year opened to the public to celebrate classic motoring and flight. One such event is the Sunday Scramble. Held at the beginning and the end of the year it represents one of the largest turn outs in both classic cars and enthusiasts alike. The latest event held on October 7th saw a fantastic welcoming of over 5,500 guests onto the historic grounds. Blessed with a glorious (if no less cold) sunny Autumn day saw an astonishing turn out of all spectrums of car ownership with major appearances from some of the biggest owners clubs in the UK.
The Sunday Scramble is certainly something very special; the historic location adds an amazing backdrop for some of the most beautiful vehicles ever to be designed. With ever square inch of the centre covered by classic steel there is definitely something to tickle anyone’s fancy from pre-war to 80’s icons. I find myself getting totally lost and turned around in the centre as my head swivels from one car to the next wandering in and out of the buildings to find gems tucked away all across the grounds. Not to mention the fantastic display by the specialist business’ that call Bicester Heritage their home, all opened to give the briefest glimpse into the workings of these centres of excellence. Owners and workers chat warmly with guests answering questions and discussing mutual passions. The event starts early and it’s definitely worth getting up bright and early to get in and experience everything the show has to offer as it wraps up fairly early. So if you’re in the area or even if it’s a bit of a drive it is an event that is most certainly worth visiting if you’re a motoring enthusiast, you’ll find it hard to find another gathering boasting the variety and quality of vehicles that turn out for the Sunday Scramble. Their next event is on January 6th 2019 for 9am – 2pm, it’ll be another cold crisp morning but get yourself up to Bicester Heritage you won’t regret it!
